  • Cadiz – 2 month old galgo puppy away from its mother – urgent help needed

    Galgo puppy 1 250 12 2011This galgo puppy is 2 months old, and away from its mother, in Cadiz. An association needs to get it urgently. If anyone can take it, please email the man who has it. Or the lady who sent the appeal lomadelperro@yahoo.com 31/12 now been told it has been saved and is safe.

    And a note for associations with galgo puppies for adoption. There is a lady in France who wants to adopt a galgo puppy to breed lurchers. Please take every precaution if you get an application from an Englishwoman wanting a galgo puppy. Email me for more information.

  • Baas Galgo – help equip a refuge for the Toledo galgos

    Baas Galgo new refuge Toledo poster 190 12 2011Baas Galgo have been helping rescue and care for dozens of galgos in Toledo, so they want to open and equip a refuge there. They desperately need funds for this project and you can help in the following way: please click on this link and add a comment. For every comment posted, the association will receive 50cents. Every 50cents will help towards the new refuge, as well as contributing towards the ongoing vet fees from the flooding earlier in the year in Cordoba.     ’23 Dec. I was driving along a road going to a store on an industrial estate when a galga crossed my path, her teats were very swollen. I had to brake hard so as not to hit her. She ran into the rough ground on the industrial estate, and I then saw she was not alone, there was another galga with her, and a puppy – the puppy is lame.

  • Cuenca galga, dying from starvation, saved by Cuencanimal

    Galga Lady ground 1 250 12 2011Saved from the brink of death by starvation. Crouched in a hole in the ground, unable to stand to escape the volunteers, not understanding they want to save her. This dog has been starved for a long time. Cuencanimal has taken her into their care. The photos show her rescue and her visit to the vet. It will take time to build up this galga to a condition where she can be rehomed. If you want to donate to her care, the details follow.

    Definition of STARVATION: starvation is a serious reduction in nutrients, vitamins and energy intake. It is the most extreme form of malnutrition, as a result of the prolonged lack of food. It is characterized by extreme weight loss, decreased metabolic rate and extreme weakness. Those who suffer from starvation may suffer severe damage to the organs and finally death. LADY was saved just in time.

  • Seville galguera threatens disposal of her galgas – any room for them?

    Seville galguera 1 250 12 2011Appeal from Seville, a Galguera (female hunter) wants to get rid of these two young galgas, as they are no good for hunting?! Doesn’t look like they have had a decent meal in a while! They are two years old, have their vaccines and cards (EU passport). Not much time left to save them before she takes them to the perrera.

  • Last chance for Toledo galgos on death row

    Toledo galgos 3 333 12 2011These galgos are in the Toledo perrera and the association has been told it is the last time they will be allowed in there. In 3 months they have managed to take our more than 100 dogs, with the help of the protectoras and individuals who have made this possible. These are the galgos currently there, mostly young ones.

  • Toledo, Spain, galgo hell – galgo graveyard, galgo in gully – Baas Galgo rescue

    Galga love 190 12 2011Toledo – hell for galgos. Sandra Baas of Baas Galgo reports on the latest examples of galguero cruelty.

    ‘Last weekend (weekend before Xmas) our Baasgalgo rescue team found a massive galgo graveyard. They have been digging all day and finally found 8 murdered galgos.
    I cannot give you any more information since the case is now denounced.

    When Leticia came back and looked on our facebook page, she saw there was a girl called Selene asking for help…a galga was thrown into a gully around 800 meters deep.
