24 reasons why Scooby enjoy picking up s..t!
It’s only the middle of October; the hunting season in Spain has now been in full swing for a month, and already the perreras are filling up with hundreds of galgos dumped there by the galgueros as ‘unfit to hunt’ – either because they lack the ‘killer instingt’ or they are sick and injured.
Scooby are hard at work trying to save many of these young hounds and Cobie writesfrom the kennels with the latest news.

Hunting with galgos in Spain – will it ever end?
From Cobie at Scooby Residencia Valladolid. This poor little galga named China was brought to the Scooby residencia by a galguero because she is obviously very sick. Surely she has leishmaniosis, very much hairloss over her whole body, long nails on her feet which makes walking very painful for her, her eartips completely bare, her back and tail almost bare and a look in her eyes which makes you want to cry for feeling so sorry for her.
The galguero injected her with all kinds of stuff and gave her tablets, God may know which ones, but of course, that did no good to her so he wanted to dispose her.

Latest style in Galgo Transport – another survivor from Spain
Regular readers of GN and those of you who have purchased my book, will remember the story of Lucho, another amazing survivor of the galgo hell in Spain, now living happily in the US. Lucho survived leptospirosis, leishmania and a leg amputation, yet still enjoys life, although he now finds walking any distance with his canine mates can be somewhat tiring. Here’s what his Mom Chris says.
‘ Lucho’s difficulty is in walking any distance. He can go several houses up the street, then needs to come back home. Whatever happened to him in Spain that caused him to lose his rear leg resulted in twisting his spine. His back is arched and his hip is abnormal so his one back leg is not strong. He gets around okay…up and down 3 steps to go out to go potty and he gets up on the sofa…..but we can’t very well take the others for a walk and have him home alone howling!’
So here he is riding in style! Eat your hearts out, galgos everywhere!!

Bencarlo, Spain – cheap accommodation, no food included
Another killing of galgos!!! This time near Benicarló. This happened in February 2012. The corpses are partly burned and beneath the galgos are bones from earlier killings. IT´S ENOUGH, BASTARDS!!!

Scooby and ADL – working together to save galgo babies
These 9 galgo puppies are 2 months old, their galga mother was abandoned in the campo near Seville; 5 female and 4 male. They are today on their way from Scooby to France, for adoption. See more pix on the ADL website and on Facebook.

Galgos, dumped, abandoned, unwanted, and hunting has only just started!
The dumping of galgos continues, increasing now as the hunters abandon the dogs which don’t make it as hunters, breeding bitches etc. Cobie of Scooby asks (on Facebook) ‘Why do they bring them to a perrera where they will be killed after 21 days and not 40 km. further to Scooby where they are safe?? I will never understand that. Anyway, this morning I took from the perrera in Simancas these 3 female beauties which can be taken of from the deathlist now and certainly will be adopted very soon to live a happy life with a loving family. They are young, beautiful and very, very sweet!’
And 8 more in the Gesser killing station, Cadiz; some of them have been reserved. But you can see from the pictures how frightened they are, not understanding why they are there. I suppose the only good thing we can say about the galguerros dumping them at the killing station is that it is better than hanging them, dumping on motorways or dropping down wells.
