Spanish Galgos Ulises, Maisey, Luna from El Paraiso – please donate to vet fees
More abandoned and rescued galgos……from the perrera, from the countryside, urbanizations……….they are being abandoned everywhere, and it is only November – still the middle of the Spanish hunting season! One of the galgas rescued from El Paraiso could be pregnant, so an urgent spaying operation has now been carried out. And Maisey, an abandoned injured galga – sadly her leg could not be saved, so she is yet another one with an amputation. And the vet fees need paying!
Ulises was a galgo who had been living rough for months, no one could get near him. Eventually he was so ill he could be caught. He has leishmania, ehrlichia, rickets, a skin condition, but he is a fighter, as are the other two…..he wants to live and experience a forever home.

Spain is the land of the heartless.
I don’t care about the mosque at Cordoba.
I don’t care any more about Pablo Casals.
Or what his cunning fingers did with the bow.
The white Alhambra, abounding in cool shade,
Singing fountains and sunlight,
Is a story of long ago.

Canicross in Murcia – Tina and galgo Guapo over the finishing line!
Tina’s done it – she’s run her first Canicross today. Here’s what she says.
‘We have done the canicross. We had a great day although was almost a non starter for us when the race organisers thought it was a good idea to let off a few cannons……. yep, clever stuff as the dogs went crazy and Guapo pulled me over on a bank he was so scared and then spent 1/2hr shivering. Well we got to the start line and once we were off, he really enjoyed it. We came 12th overall but not sure out of how many, I will wait for results! Thanks for all the sponsors!

Target the War Hero, support his memory, sign the petition
Target was a war hero in Afghanistan, who saved the lives of 50 American soldiers. He ended up in a US animal refuge and was euthanaised! Please sign the petition demanding more regulations on animal refuges and shelters.

Galga shot in the head – saved by the vet – the true Spain!
This galga has been shot in the head. I don’t know the story behind how she was found – I’m waiting for the details – but suffice to say she was still alive when taken to the vet, who at the time of my receiving the photo, was operating to save her.
The hunters in France, where I live, are lethal in more than one way! Around our home and land, their shooting days are Thursdays and Sundays. We keep our cat and dogs shut in the house on those days; the cat is shut in all day, much to her disgust; the dogs are only let out in the courtyard.

Abandoned and dying in Murcia – help save him – donate to vet fees
Tina Solera has been out catching a galgo again! Seems to be every day there is an abandoned galgo which crosses her path, even 2! And it’s not even near the end of the hunting season. What is wrong, what is happening that all these abandoned galgos are still being found?
This one was in a very poor state; Tina took advice from other experienced volunteers and finally managed to catch him and take him to her vet. (Bear in mind she has young school age children to see to whilst saving galgos!) This is what she says.

Dennis and Sandy, Spanish galgos needing forever homes
Dennis and Sandy are galgos rescued by Tina Solera. They both deserve forever homes. Can you help?
Dennis was abandoned in Murcia. He is aprox 3 yrs, castrated, vaccine rabia and enfermadad, blood tests for leishmania and erchlicia are all negative and he is microchipped. He is loving and affectionate.
Sandy was found living on the streets of Pilar de Horadada and as soon as she entered the refuge she was very happy to have water and food, she was even skinnier than she is now. She had the early stages of filaria, which was caught with treatment and she is now fine.
She loves cuddles and wants constant attention but in a positive way. She doesn’t hassle you, she just pushes her nose into you. She wants to love someone and wants someone to own her 100%. She was always nice with the other dogs but unfortunately one dog bit her tail off, can you see? She walks lovely on a lead also. She really is a very good dog and will make someone a fantastic companion.

Galgo Gandalf, Podenca Mary, looking for their forever homes
