People ‘on the ground’ in Spain will correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that there have been more abandoned galgos this year than before……..it seems to have been never ending all throughout the non-hunting season. And now there is news just in that upwards of 20 galgos have been taken to the El Paraiso perrera.
Volunteers and associations are working round the clock to save them. Here’s what Charl del Rio says, after her visit to El Paraiso yesterday.
‘There are 14 galgos. 7 female 7 male. They have said they have had interest from associations in Zaragoza and also Madrid. It’s a bit like first come gets first pick! I said I’d take 2 females but the chips have to be changed which I will have to pay for.. and the vaccinations etc. I really asked them to not give them any hunters.. will they?????? Who knows. The man I spoke to said they don’t give dogs to anyone who looks suspicious and hunters don’t go to get them from there, they usually leave them, like now!
If anyone can help to take anymore out then it would be great, there are some of the boys who are white, one white and beige colour and big boys also a black big one. THere are 2 girls which are cream.. one looks like she could have had a chip cut out.. not sure, and a female a rich beige toffee colour STUNNING girl, me brindles too. They all need saving.
Don’t know what to think really other than it leaves you deflated, leaving knowing they are there on cold floors and no bedding.. so sad. Knowing you want to take them all but you can’t move as fast as they need your help, before they are killed.’
Contact Charl if you can help.
