Scooby saves 100 more Seville galgos!

Seville galgos 10 02 2011 250 Good news from Scooby – 100 of the Seville galgos rescued. Here’s their news.

Dear Friends,

What can we say… your support is amazing! The response that we got for our plea to help 100 galgos in Seville has been overwhelming. We are pleased to say that these precious souls will be rescued in the next 10 days. We will keep you posted on their progress via our Scooby News page.

In less than 10 days, we received almost 7,000 Euros in donations from our partner groups and individuals like your selves. WOW! Every donation counted and we should all be proud of ourselves for rallying together for these special dogs.

However, our work does not stop there for them. After they arrive at Scooby, they will require medical care and food to nourish them back to healthy dogs. As mentioned in our original plea, it costs about 6,000 Euros to feed 400 dogs. After the arrival of these 100 galgos from Seville, we will have over 500 dogs. We have collected enough to ensure a good supply of food for a few months, because we also had some savings, but we continue to need your support.

If you can commit to a small monthly donation, this would really help us maintain the food supply as we go through these difficult months with the influx of galgos needing our help. We are now in the middle of this abandonment period with the hunting season coming to an end and know that this plea for help from all over Spain will not be the last time we are called upon to save more dogs. Nor will there be a decline in numbers around our shelter of galgos. We can’t do it alone, we need your help.

Thank you again for giving us the jump start to get these 100 beauties from Seville.

The Scooby Team

Don’t forget that all these dogs will be added to the previous 130 from Cadiz……and all will need forever homes. To read more and donate towards EU passport preparation costs, click onto the Scooby website.

It seems to me the situation this year is even worse, more dogs just being abandoned for the rescue associations to pick up the pieces and deal with. Absolutely ludicrous that the authorities and hunting federations don’t regulate to prevent it. All because most of them are hunters themselves, therefore the system is corrupt. But we will fight on and put pressure on governments and associations; we cannot abandon either the dogs nor the volunteers coping with all this. Please keep up the publicity on behalf of them all.
