Galga Salva, burnt with acid – Galgos del Norte update

You remember the story of Salva, the galga found in the perrera in Burgos, burned with acid, rescued by Galgos del Norte. Sadly she lost her fight for life. This is a translation from their website.

‘Salva has left us, dehydration from the burns affected all her internal organs and she not been able to continue fighting.

“There is a bridge linking heaven and Earth.” The Rainbow Bridge is so called because of its many colours. Precisely in that place there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with a green and lush grass. When a beloved pet dies, it goes to this place. There is always food and sufficient water and a warm and spring time.

All the animals who had been ill and old to recover their health and vigour; those who were injured or maimed become strong and intact again, just as we remember them in our dreams of those days we spent together. They play all day with each other. There is enough water and food and the sun shines, and our friends are warm and comfortable. The animals are happy and satisfied, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special, who they had to leave behind.

All of them run and play together, but comes the day when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are vigilant; the excited body shakes. Suddenly you are seen, and when you and your special friend join, take your arms and hug him. Happiness kissing raining down on your face; your hands again caress the head so dear, and you look once more confident your pet’s eyes, so much time away from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then cross the Rainbow Bridge, together to not separate you never more’

I’d like to know the details of why she had to be put down instead of all that gushy stuff about the rainbow bridge. She didn’t just die, she was euthanized. Why couldn’t the vets handle her problems?

It quite clearly says that her internal organs
packed up because of the damage the acid burns caused. We can see clearly
from the photos that her skin was raw, the acid obviously was absorbed into her
body, as well as she probably licked herselfand absorbed it.
Internal burns from acid will wreak havoc and there is nothing a vet can
do.If the vets could have done something, rest assured they would have
done. The Spanish vets pull out all the stops to save these dogs, far more
than vets in other countries who dont have to cope with the horrendous injuries
the Spanish dogs suffer. She probably gave up the will to live, it doesnt
mean she was euthanaised. Dont be angry against the vet and
association. They will have done everything in their power to save
her. It is only if she had been left in the perrera – which she wasnt –
that she would have been euthanaised.

It breaks my heart that this poor innocent creature had to endure so much before finding peace. Everytime I see one of these suffering souls on your page I shed a tear in sheer disbelief of human cruelty. I cannot look away. With a snoring gentle galgo at my side (he’s been traumatized, as he cannot trust anyone but me after a year of rehabilitation) I truly realize the horror these poor dogs go through. If I win the lottery, the funds go to the pooches :).
Now, I take a minute and sadly pay my respect to another sweet soul lost to inhuman human actions.

Can you IMAGINE what she went through! Just think of how much it hurts when you accidentally put your hand through too hot water from the faucet. The thought of acid poured over one’s body is incomprehensible. I’d like to get my hands on the monster who did this.
