First Estrela, then Duke (who travels to 112carlotagalgos today for rehabilitation prior to rehoming) and now FOGUETE, Estrela’s husband and Duke’s father. That completes the family for Portugal Dog Rescue. BHT Foguete is in a bad way and PDR desperately need help to pay for the specialist vet treatment he will need, if he survives. Read on.
Foguete is Estrela’s ‘husband’ and Duke’s father, from the same obnoxious owner. He is an 8 year old galgo that Teresa has known for years, has always been abused by his owner and legally there was nothing we could prove. The scumbag he calls owner has called Teresa this morning (9/12/2013) to take the dog away as he was having a fit and he didn’t want the dog anymore.
This is how Teresa found him this lunch time; he was convulsing and had fits, and Teresa has taken him home. The man had tried to dope him with ropirinol to try and take him hare coursing, and ended up overdosing him with 200mg.
Foguete had a cardiac arrest on arriving at the vets and is now on fluids. He was given an antidote but is arritmic and the vet can’t say if he’ll survive as his heart is failing. The authorities have been called and an agent will speak to the vet tomorrow as witness. All we can say at the moment is any sponsors to help with the emergency treatment will be much appreciated. Thank you.
UPDATE: Foguete is stable but has serious neurological damage. He now has a head tilt, drools and has nistagmus (tremors in his eyes) which the vet can’t tell at this stage if they’re permanent. There is no more treatment that can be done apart from fluid therapy and resting, he remained at the vets for the night.
We will do our best to help him recover, and will take one day at a time. Foguete will have a long recovery and wouldn’t mind sponsors to help pay for his treatments. Thank you all, fingers crossed that he’ll pull through. The authorities will be informed of his progress.

Scumbag is a polite term to use for this individual. Absolutely disgusting. He should be prosecuted. Poor, poor Foguete, look at the disgraceful conditions he has been living in! I really do hope that he pulls through and I will be able to donate for him in the next few weeks. Thank you for saving him.
this poor boy sounds like he as had a stroke in whats been described this idiot wants all dogs taken from his care this is the third galgo who we have known been in his care with health problems poor poor boy suffered at the hands of crap once again the authorities need to sort him out i will donate on friday for this poor boy
