Pepis Refuge – miracles do happen – with a little help

Mobile 250A message from Jane and Alan Brian of Pepis Refuge, Pedrera, Spain – to all of you who have supported them, especially over the last 2 years since they were hit by 2 mudslides through the kennels and their house; their house was condemned for living in; their electricity generator packed up and the new one didn’t last long either; they both ended up in hospital, at different times; the Belgian galgo association who had supported them then pulled the plug because they were feeding all the 60+ dogs, not just the galgos; a ‘supporter’ – I use the term loosely – was trying to close them down. They were at absolute rock bottom.

With your help and support and that of many other people I contacted – we picked them up. All of you who have responded to appeals for help for them – you rock! Having said that, there are still 7+ dogs there – another little xbreed dumped on Sunday – named Sunday! But don’t forget, they need 700 euros/month just to feed all the dogs….plus homes for them too.

It’s been quite a year for us, this year. So many good things have happened, so many new and wonderful people that have come on board and taken us and the dogs to their hearts.

Wonderful new things have been achieved and are still being achieved for which we and the dogs are so very grateful for.

We do whatever we can to keep the dogs in good health and spirits, but everything else has been achieved by you, all our wonderful supporters, and for that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, without you we could not have moved on as far as we have.

You are our hero`s, we ask nothing for ourselves, but everything for the dogs.

(Pat in the kitchen) The icing on our Christmas cake this year was made possible by our very dear and long standing supporter, Pat King. Pat had decided to return to her family in the uk after many years living here in Spain and before Pat left, she stunned us with her wish to donate her beautiful mobile home for us to live in, up on Pepis Brennan Hill Galgo Centre.

A dream come true for us, but only made possible once again by a fantastic supporter, who has asked us not to mention by name, and we respect their request, who paid the costs of transporting the home to its new place on the hill and much more besides.

We are truly honoured to be blessed with such wonderful and generous supporters.

Alan and I would like to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year, and thank you all from our hearts and the big hearts of all the wonderful dogs you have helped throughout the years. Bless you.xx

The caravan is now available for volunteers – so get booking your holidays to help!

And SIDNEY, December Dog of the Month – needs his forever home

Ah that’s such good news and what a lovely lady donating her mobile home, it looks great! Jane and Alan so deserve this. Hope lots of people support Pepis, I have renewed my monthly standing order. Why would someone want to shut them down? Was this person willing to take on the care of all the dogs then?! What are the motives of people like this, certain people try and do this to rescues here too, bad mouth them and cause trouble. They certainly can’t be thinking of the dogs that’s for sure. Anyway, I hope that 2015 is a good year for Pepis and that more dogs are adopted. All best wishes to Jane and Alan for the New Year.
