Today marks almost one week since this sweet boy was finally freed from his chain. A moment that changed the course of his life. He was given a name that suits him perfectly: Fénix.
This morning, Fénix was examined by our vet for a thorough medical check-up. He was vaccinated, received his identification microchip and passport, and a blood sample was taken to test for the most common Mediterranean diseases.
Unfortunately, the rapid test for heartworm (Filaria) did not give a clear result. An additional laboratory test is therefore needed to determine whether he is infected.
But there is more worrying news…
As we previously shared with you, Fénix no longer has a tail. During the medical examination, our vet discovered that it had not been removed professionally. There are still stitches in place, and Fénix is in pain. Tomorrow morning, he will be placed under anaesthesia so that the vet can examine his tail more closely and determine exactly what is wrong. We hope to give him the right treatment as soon as possible and relieve his pain.
Our heartfelt thanks to Helping Animals Almanzora for covering Fénix’s medical expenses. Thanks to your support, we can provide him with the care he needs and help him build a brighter future.
Will you keep your fingers crossed for Fénix and hope for a positive outcome tomorrow? Of course, we will keep you updated on his progress and recovery.
Welcome to GRA, sweet Fénix. We cannot change your past, but together, we will do everything we can to make your future brighter.
