Cordoba refuge flooded EDL 0110 250 Hi Folks.

Herewith the two reports in English. As I’m absolutely pulled out workwise at the moment, please excuse that I have not corrected the grammar.

  • Scooby Medina – support Fermin and the team against Spain’s broken laws

Fermin Perez 0110 300 Scooby Medina is the largest animal refuge centre in Spain. It is in the heart of galgo country; Medina del Campo is also the heart of galgo racing. Fermin Perez, the founder and president of Scooby, along with Anne Finch, founder of Greyhounds in Need, should be created Saints. Their names are synonymous with greyhounds and galgos.

I have recently been advised of a horrendous situation for Scooby and the rest of the world can now read about it here.

This is an example of what the Spanish refuges, shelters and rescue associations suffer. Please give Scooby your support, they have to know we are all behind them.

  • Holiday postcards get out of Spain – donated parcels for shelters can’t get in!

Correos Spanish postal service 190 As you know, during the autumn and winter I mention how much the associations and refuges in Spain need dog coats for the thin-coated galgos to survive the severe winter night-time temperatures.

For anyone considering sending dog coats to Spain, please be careful to use a courrier service or a galgo rescue association outside of Spain to ensure safe delivery of the parcel.

Spain is often described to me by those who live there as a Third World Country; this is an example of the corruption and red tape existing in the postal service.

  • No Spanish Holiday swimming in the Canal for this Galgo rescued by SEPRONA – who threw him in there?

Rescued from a river Pro Galgo 1 0110 210 A member of the Service of Protection of the Nature (Seprona) of the Civil Guard of Don Benito rescued a galgo from the waters of the channel of Navalvillar de Pela as, due to the extremely steep incline, it could not get out.

The rescue, according to the Delegation of the Government, took place on 10th January in the morning, during the usual monitoring of the canal.

The galgo was inside the channel with part of its body submerged in the water and the agents of the SEPRONA, with just their hands and helped by a strap, were able to tie the dog and to rescue it. The poor dog had blood-stained legs, wounds produced when trying to get out of the channel.

  • Kafir – a galgo surviving against all odds – looking for his forever home

Kafir lying down 0110 250 This is the latest news about Kafir, the poor galgo who tried to chew off his leg.
    Cristina writes:

‘I just want to tell you that Kafir was operated last Friday 8th January and the operation was a total success. The rest of his hind leg has been amputed and it was a wonderful job of our spanish vet, who sadly is already used to these kind of operations.

Poor Kafir had a bad waking up from anesthesy as he was crying very much and felt totally confused. He stayed in the clinic during the night and I went there to bring him his favourite rice with chicken and carrots for his dinner.
