Is the Canidrome in Macau about to close?
My name is Albano Martins and I am the founder of ANIMA Macau and proudly serve on the board of directors of GREY2K USA Worldwide. I have been working with Christine Dorchak and Carey Theil since 2012 to close down dog tracks and give greyhounds the second chance they deserve.
Magic the greyhound2017 brought many successes for our campaign to end dog racing, including the shuttering of tracks in multiple countries around the world. Please read all the details in our annual newsletter the Advocate! Thankfully, one of the tracks that is about to close is the Canidrome, a track which is just across the bridge from my shelter in Macau. It will soon be leveled and replaced with new schools for local children. So now we are working very hard to raise funds for the safe release of the 650 dogs who have been lucky enough to survive this terrible place. One of our supporters is even running a race to help these dogs and the greyhounds in his home state of Florida!

Apologies to those of you who might wish to comment on my posts. For some inexplicable reason Typepad has closed comments. I have asked my webmaster Craig to look into it urgently.

Abandoned galgo puppies in Jaen – safe with Galgos 112
What were you doing last Sunday, 3rd September 2017? For me it was the day of my 6th Fun Dog Show (see video below). Galgos 112 were busy rescuing 3 abandoned galgo pups, read their report.
We started on Sunday morning with the bleak picture of these three galgo puppies, we picked them up yesterday in Linares (Jaén) lying on the street, they are in lousy condition and meals for scabies. It was four, one came to us dying and failed to get out, it was so bad that the vet had to put her to sleep so she wouldn’t suffer anymore.
Every day we understand less what they do with these poor animals, so much lack of humanity and so much misery who are these people to have such a hard heart?
The funny thing about the story is that we found the first puppy two days before the rest and in a different neighborhood, but next to the place where the others appeared.

A trip to the beach
Amongst all the appeals and horror stories, I thought I’d share with you pix from our recent visit to the beach with our 3 galgos and 1 podenco. From 1st June – 30th September the beaches in France (where I live) are closed to dogs. So we squeezed a visit in just before the end of May. Sadly we couldn’t let the dogs run off lead as, although you can’t see them in the pix, there were dozens of holidaymakers there! We also enjoyed lunch in the cool of a shaded picnic area. So here are Bracken, Polar, Carmela and little podenca Bebe.
