  • Stolen galgo, anyone going into Olivenza perrera, Badajoz?

    Stolen galgo Badajoz 250 07 06 2011 URGENT PLEASE.! IF SOMEONE IS GOING TO KENNELS (OLIVENZA) PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO.

    This galgo, called Mory,is one year old and was stolen on 18th February in Almendralejo, Badajoz. Its owners are still desperately trying to find it. This is the only photo we have, but as identification, there is a scar as small as a grain of rice hetween its eyes. The owners are heartbroken. Please, if anyone is going into the Olivenza Perrera, have a look at the galgos.

  • Update on Galgo Ken in Valencia – needing a very special home

    Ken after op 11 02 2011 250 You remember brave Ken, the galgo hit from behind by a motor vehicle, rescued by Galgos del Sol and now with Galgo Connection Spain in Valencia. Silvia’s vet and the team are helping rebuild his body and he is now mobile with his personal wheelchair!

    Here is the latest news about him from Silvia.

    ‘Now we take him to rehabilitation, he has more muscles in the back side, something is confused because he moves the tail and the legs but has not sensibility, the vet is looking if he gets better with the rehab.

    UPDATE – FEPAEX have taken him in, he is no longer lost and on the street.

  • Young Cadiz Galgo and Toledo Galga seek forever families

    Cadiz galgo 250 05 2011 More galgos needing help. This beautiful boy in Cadiz was rescued from the road luckily before being injured. This is what his rescuer says about him.

    ‘I met this galgo on Saturday night coming home, about 12 o’clock at night on the highway to San Fernando to Port Royal. The night was very bad, didn’t stop raining and I saw him on the shoulder. I stopped quickly and the poor man came running towards me moving his tail. At that moment I knew I could not leave it there.

  • Dumped in a rubbish bin in Seville, rescued by El Albergue – pray for him

    Seville esperanzacara head 30 04 2011 I’m just one person sitting at my computer, trying to keep up with the news coming in from Spain and the Spanish Islands about galgos and podencos…..just this afternoon, whilst I took a couple of hours out to mow the lawn, 9 emails came in about galgos and podencos….on death row in killing stations in Seville, Merida, Cordoba, and on top of that there are the appeals from individuals about abandoned galgos in Malaga, Cadiz, elsewhere in Spain – can anyone in those areas help catch them? I do my best, but I can’t always post them all.

    This story from a volunteer with the El Albergue asso sums up the galguero attitude to his dog.

    ‘Hello everybody, we’ve just been made aware of this case, it is a galga that is abandoned and lives lives badly in a house in ruins. For now we have food and water, but it would be necessary to find a foster home where she can recover little by little. She has a noble character, friendly and confident, not scared or running from people. Please, has anyone a little space for this galguilla for two or three weeks, please avisadnos, together we can change the future. Thank you very much for your attention. Regards.   • Luz, dragged behind a ‘training’ vehicle – curse you galguero! It’s no holiday for galgos in Seville!

    Luz demo 2 25 03 2011 190 Representatives of Sofia El Refugio Escuela in Seville took part in the manifestation there on 25th March 2011. They took along with them Luz, victim of horrendous abuse at the hands of a galguero, who is now in foster receiving the love and care he needs to rebuild his life and his health. Here’s her story, in their words.

    ‘What we cannot express is the rage, even hatred for the man who did this. All this poor dog could see was blood and death. Pulled by a 4 x 4 transforming nature into a death camp. Galguero, what a terrible word.

  • Galgo Romero goes to his forever home – another incredible survivor of the horror of Spain

    Romero Lisa wanting a kiss 250 Romero is another incredible galgo, abandoned as a puppy, severly ill and injured, terrified of humans, who found his way into the home and heart of an English couple in Murcia and has now joined his forever family.

    This is the link to the original story of Romero with Gaynor, Tina and the creation of Galgos del Sol. His journey towards life as a companion dog continued with a move to Malaga and the home of Lisa, friend of Charl del Rio of 112carlota galgos AGPE, and Charl tells the story of his life with Lisa and animal family.

  • Risa, saved from Jerez killing station, now looking for her forever home

    Cleo Risa crop 2 2011 011 210 This beautiful galga is Risa, about 14 months old, taken to the Jerez killing station by her galguero in December 2010, to be euthanaised along with dozens of other dogs. She was rescued on Christmas Eve with 3 other galgos, one just 5 months old, by 112carlotagalgos. She is now in foster at my home in Western France, looking for her forever home.

    She has her EU passport, is microchipped, vaccinated, sterilized, negative for Mediterranean diseases, and the results are awaited for her rabies antibodies blood test for possible adoption in Britain – although she is clear for adoption elsewhere in Europe now.
