Introducing Diana, written by Charl del Rio, 112carlotagalgos.
Diana, a stunning beige brindle galga, 4 years of age… with a lifetime left to live, who, after 4 years of existence as a hunting galga, finds herself in a perrera. The sounds and cries of her fellow dogs scaring her to trembling state. Grieving for life on a cold wet perrera floor. A galga 4 years od with a life to give.
This is Spain, this is the reality and the pain hurts. Her aching heart and what she knew is even better than what she has on the perrera floor. Every day a new influx of unwanted dogs, its like a war camp, a death zone, for no-one adopts a galga in the perreras, they are doomed, unless rescued by the valient associations who work to rescue many.
Galgos = vermin in Spain, they are tools to be used, exploited and then are paid back by abandonment, death, and a perrera floor. Those too scared to enter into their kennels, get dragged in. This is Spain, this is the reality and it hurts.
When Dioni went to pick up Diana from the perrera, the truth of Diana’s story became clear. From observation, she isnt a galga who has been physically hurt, but mentally and emotionally betrayed by the hands who so say cared for her.
Microchipp;ed, we track her owner. She belonged to a lady vet, she was her owner – her and her father, both vets! So we have an example of vets who instill health into other animals placing their 4 yr old galga in a perrera to die, no longer useful to her or her father.
We all have times of hardship which make us do things perhaps we don’t want to do, but abandoning your dog in a perrera is not one of them. Totally against the code of practice and oath which a vet takes to care for animals…they can disregard their own, despite on the front helping other associations. You never know who people are, and each day working with saving galgos and podencos, I lose my faith in people.
SrA. GalguerA.. you have blood on your hands!
Diana’s luck changed when the call came in from a dear friend that there was a galga in a perrera. Dioni went and picked her up, and now she is safe. We promise to change your life, Diana, while you look at us with sad eyes, confusion as to where you are, and who we are. People yet again responsible for a dogs life. Well these people Diana, WE won’t let you down. We will care for you, heal your heart and promise you a future with a family who will love you forever and ever. A future that is your right to have, and we will deliver.
Diana, have faith sweet galga. There are many of us who will fight for you – for your breed, and we will all of us together raise you up in society to be come a household pet, once again.
Update
It is possible Diana has nerve damage in her back leg, it won’t stop shaking. She needs to be sterilised but I am holding off because she needs to see the vet about the leg.

This is disgusting, they could have put her painlessly to sleep if necessary, but to abandon her to a perrera is against everything someone in their profession is supposed to be about. Is there no way they can be named and what they have done made public?
