  • Update from El Albergue on galga dumped in a rubbish bin

Update on the galgo dumped in a rubbish bin. ‘It is a female galga, and is very serious, especially from a strong blow to the head but still alive. We are waiting to see how it evolves and will soon need a CT scan (scanner) of the head. She is now hospitalized at a veterinary clinic. Please, if you know who wants to help with veterinary expenses let us know, because in our humble association we can do no more, but the cases that come to us are so desperate that we can not ignore them and look the other way. A hug and thank you very much for your interest.’

  • Galgo pup with gangrene – Pro-Galgo saves him – see his progress

Wonderful news from Mo Swatek of Pro Galgo. Do you remember the story of the galgo puppy with gangrene in his tail and rear end. Here are 2 videos where you can see little TIGRE being a happy boy with his girlfriend CHANEL in his foster family (with a little luck they will keep him). His fosters say that he is a real monster pup but so loving and charming that they forgive him everythings

  • Dumped in a rubbish bin in Seville, rescued by El Albergue – pray for him

Seville esperanzacara head 30 04 2011 I’m just one person sitting at my computer, trying to keep up with the news coming in from Spain and the Spanish Islands about galgos and podencos…..just this afternoon, whilst I took a couple of hours out to mow the lawn, 9 emails came in about galgos and podencos….on death row in killing stations in Seville, Merida, Cordoba, and on top of that there are the appeals from individuals about abandoned galgos in Malaga, Cadiz, elsewhere in Spain – can anyone in those areas help catch them? I do my best, but I can’t always post them all.

This story from a volunteer with the El Albergue asso sums up the galguero attitude to his dog.

NovoiceNoChoiceposterfinal[1] 190 Here’s news from Maria Daines, fantastic singer/songwriter and marvellous supporter of animals in need. If anyone is willing to organise a Galgo/Podenco publicity stand, please get in touch, maybe we can put volunteers in touch with each other through Galgo News and Podenco Post. The Galgos and Podencos need you to help.

‘We’ve been really busy working on the DDAWatch/Company of Animals ‘No Voice No Choice’ event coming up on August 6th in Surrey. I thought I’d better catch up with you all and invite you to have a stall (rescue and good causes can book a place for free) and if you can’t hold a stall on the day you’re most welcome to attend with or without your dogs, it’s also free entry to the public with plenty of car parking.
