Update on Tallis – galgo puppy rescued from Spain, rehomed in France
Last year we met Tallis, a young galgo puppy rescued along with others from the same litter by L’Europe des Levriers, who found her forever home with an English couple in the south west of France. Tallis has written to tell us how she is going on.

Baas Galgo helps save the Toledo galgos

Greyhounds In Nood Belgium – on a mercy mission to Madrid
Over a period of 7 days at the beginning of June, a team from Greyhounds In Nood, Belgium, travelled overland with a van load of goods through France to Spain and Madrid, to visit refuges in the area with hundreds of galgos. This is the story of their trip, fascinating and moving.
At one refuge, they were introduced to a 6-week old galga puppy which had been dumped in a rubbish bin, covered in vermin. At another refuge, there were more than 300 galgos.
This story makes the proposed introduction in Belgium in October of a law prohibiting the importing of dogs from outside that country even more appalling.

Passion Podenco Belgium – adopt a podenco
To adopt a podenco in Belgium, visit this website. Warning, prepare to have your hearing blasted! The music is VERY loud! There are some rather nice cards on sale too. Podenca puppy Miffay – in Valencia – adopt her – give her a life
Can you help Miffay. She is an adorable podenca of 6 months. She was abandoned and found in a pitiable state along with another little bitch, had been attacked by processionary caterpillars which affected her tonque but, with veterinary treatment, has been restored to good health by the refuge in Valencia. She eats and drinks normally, is quiet and affectionate, and also nervous of strangers, but this will improve in a forever home. She will be a wonderful family member, and will love to play with children.
Please give her a chance of a normal life.

Transportation of Live Dogs from Spain – Solving the Problem
Cobie Steketee is the amazing Dutch lady who runs one of the shelters in Cordoba from which we brought several galgos to rehome in France. She has written an article about the problems many shelters face with regard to transporting dogs around Spain and elsewhere.
The transportation of live dogs from Spain to France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
It has been almost two and a half years now that I have worked as a volunteer in numerus Spanish shelters/dogs homes. According to my connections through this period of time, it has become obvious that many of the shelters and adoption charities seem to run into the same problem time and time again… that being, the transportation of the dogs to other European Countries outside of Spain itself.
A lot of the Spanish dogs can easily be rehomed in other countries, but the biggest problem is, how to get them there with reasonable expense coverage. It is due to this problem that many dogs still remain in the Spanish shelters for a long period of time and these shelters quickly become overfull.
