• Skydiving to Celebrate a Milestone!

Action for greyhounds20 of the happiest years of my life were spent in Suffolk. It’s a lovely friendly county, lovely English countryside. Quaint pubs offering Ploughman’s Lunch or Carveries. Nothing quite to match that where I now live in France!

But you can’t take away the memories. Old Buckenham is one Suffolk village I remember well. Annie Boddey lives there now. And she’s marking a milestone in her life. She’s skydiving to celebrate her 50th birthday! AND even better, she’s doing it to raise funds for greyhounds.

  • They eat greyhounds in the Far East – join the protest

    Greyhound Action International Alert

Greyhounds in Australia that are surplus end up being tortured in vivisection labs or end up being exported to hellholes in Macau, China Wild life Park, Vietnam or Korea where they end up terrified and eventually chopped up in the horrific dogmeat markets.

The vast majority of greyhounds that are exported to Asia are from Australia so please keep up the pressure on the Australian govt to stop the export of greyhounds to Asia.

Also the tourist trade is very important in Asia please contact all the tourist boards/embassies lists provided on our website and tell them you will boycott their country if they continue with greyhound racing and the abuse and killing of greyhounds.

  • Educating the children – how to improve Spanish attitudes to animals

Galgo spainFamiliar story. This poor podenca was abandoned in Valencia. She was wandering the streets. She got pregnant.

She had her babies, and then some kids got hold of them; used them like toys – put them in a box up a tree so she could not get them. She cried in vain at the bottom of the tree and the kids laughed! Can you imagine the distress of this poor Mum!

Fortunately a lady intervened, sent the kids packing – I’d have done a great deal more!

  • Karmel – a difficult diagnosis for the vet

KarmelMy beautiful brindle galga Karmel is sick. It is just one year since I went to Spain, to Cuidad Real, to collect her from the refuge. She has brought such love and affection into our home, and now she is sick, and we don’t know the cause.

A problem has developed in the feet of my galga. My vet thinks it could be an allergy problem but, as she is one of the hundreds to come out of Spain whose history is unknown, we don’t know if she has suffered this problem before.

All her tests for filaria, leishmaniosis, ehrlichia were negative and, until 3 months ago, she was a normal galga, sleeping on her sofa, walking our meadows, stealing food from the kitchen, even though she had plenty to eat!

Suddenly one morning in April, she went very lame, hardly able to walk.

The pads of her feet were inflamed, the insides of her ears were very pink, and she had a small open sore on her tummy. My vet took scrapings for microscopic examination.

As we know nothing of Karmel’s history, it was difficult to ascertain if it was an allergy – it was that time of year – or genetic, or her immune system.

    ‘REMEMBRANCE WEEKEND’

“Two years later. How many thousands of dead dogs later?”
Annette Crosbie OBE – July 2008

Wednesday 16th July marked the second anniversary of the ‘Seaham Slaughter‘ exposure by Daniel Foggo, journalist to The Sunday Times.

Not only did this investigation prove beyond doubt that greyhounds were being slaughtered on a massive scale but as a result of the public outcry, ministers demanded an All Parliamentary Enquiry.
