Save the greyhounds from China – Irish and Australian

This is an extension of the campaign to stop Irish greyhounds being sent to China. I have no doubt that readers in Oz will have some comments.

Urgent- please write to the Australian Prime Minster the Hon Julia Gillard MP to stop greyhounds being exported to the Macau track where they live in appalling conditions most of which are killed at the end of their racing days! Worldwide letters needed now please to help these poor greyhounds who suffer and die, all for the price of a bet.
This is a quote from the recent Irish Daily mail investigation-

“Dr Choi U Fai, who heads the Macau government’s animal control department and oversees the import and destruction of every dog at the Canidrome, describes the plight of greyhounds as ‘terrible’ and said that every dog imported to Macau from Australia was dead within around three years”.

Please keep all correspondence polite. Please include the link to the article above so the PM can read the investigation. Please ask her to stop the export of greyhounds to Macau immediately as an issue of morality. Please tell her that Australia’s tourism could be affected by this outrage as many people/animal welfare groups globally will be very concerned about the fate of these poor dogs.

We now need campaign groups in Australia that can lobby the Australian government to stop greyhounds going to Macau. It is imperative that any Australians reading this take action now please! If you know any groups or contacts in Australia please send them this appeal asap.
