The story of the Galgo Espanol is spreading further afield, and one of the newer associations involved in rehoming galgos is in the Czech Republic. Here is the latest news from them.
‘Hello Beryl,
It has been already a while since we sent you our last e-mail. In the mean time we were very busy, there are more happy endings and more happy dogs in families now. You can take look at their pictures here:
or the same in English
Now we are making a trip to Spain, we will go to two refugios in La Mancha
and than to Cuenca (we took out 5 galgos from the killing station in there
and some other galgos from the refugios).
We have also a very special galga in Cuenca waiting. Her name is Benita, she was supposed to go home middle of August, but no-one knew she was pregnant… and suddenly the milk come out, the puppies in two days… The only possibility was to transport Benita to the local veterinarian (we did not want to leave her in these dirty perrera…).
Unfortunately four of the babies died one day after that, four others in 6
weeks. We were very, very sad, families were waiting over there, we
send a lot of money to pay the veterinarian … and there were only dead
babies at the end. But the mum is there and waiting for us. We are looking
forward to see her – our very special galga. (Please, see the picture
enclosed).
