Three galgos thrown over a fence into Maria’s garden – at danger of being stolen again for selling on…so they were put into kennels in Malaga for 112carlotagalgos until there is room at the finca for them. So far, vet and kennel fees paid out this week, 940 euros…the association relies entirely on donations. Paypal donations to comdelrio@hotmail.com.

Chained galga starving to death – now fighting to live
This is galga Adina – chained up, no food, no water, left to starve to death. Rescued and taken immediately to the vet and kept in the clinic for a few days to monitor. Now she is safe with 112carlotagalgos. Charl tells the story – briefly
‘I now introduce you to Princess Adina!
Survival is her wish. Her longing to live through the darker days held her… brought her to this.. home.
At the moment we’re not testing her .. everything seems to be working ok for the moment. Bowels and urine. But she will be watched. Tests of the usual would only be false at this time. So recuperation is what she needs. Rest. Food. Rest. Food.
She longed to live.. here she is. Welcome to finca 112 Carlotagalgos special girl.
Embraced by chains.. you have been released. We have prayed for you. For strength to see a new day.. It’s yours to take now.. day by day. Little by little.. you will see your forever.’
Vet fees are already mounting, plus special food costs – please donate by paypal to comdelrio@hotmail.com.

Galgos saved from Badajoz perrera en route to 112carlotagalgos – please donate
Tara is just 1 year old and already experienced the trauma of being dumped in Badajoz perrera by her galguero. She has been rescued. Now renamed AMBER by Charl del Rio, she will be coming to 112carlotagalgos on 30/11/2013 with four other rescued galgos from Badajoz. Victor, Zach, Phoebe and Zara will be leaving the hell of the killing station too and travelling with Amber to start their new life at the finca under the loving hand of the Del Rio’s.
Poor little Zara is coming with a fractured leg and, with the cost of release fees, vaccines etc plus residency fees until pick up on Saturday not to even mention surgery for Zara, castration, other medical treatment needed the cost is massive.

Sighthounds for Life Auction for 112carlotagalgos – ends 10 November
Here’s the latest Sighthounds for Life auction. There are dozens of fabulous items, please have a look and get bidding. All proceeds to 112carlotagalgos.
In the last couple of months galgos have arrived at the finca desperately needing expensive operations and medical treatment. First there was Dante needing a leg operation; then Happy with no fur and swollen legs – a serious case of mange; then Kenya arrived with a deformed foreleg which previous operations had not repaired. Vet bills for these hounds alone run into four figures.
Add to that feeding all the dogs, microchip and vaccinations to prepare the dogs for adoption…money goes out faster than it comes in.

Galgo Happy, recovering from a bad case of mange
‘Happy’ arrived earlier this month at 112carlotagalgos with a very serious case of mange – no hair, swollen legs, open sores and scabs on his body. He was in so much pain and so sore he couldn’t even lie down. His vet fees are mounting up but as you can see from this video, he is improving. If you can donate towards his vet fees, please paypal comdelrio@hotmail.com.

A heart for galgo Prince – have you room for him in yours
Stunning boy Prince has been at 112carlotagalgos for many months, partly because he was very ill when he arrived and he needed time to get well. Here’s what Charl writes about him.
RE.INTRODUCING PRINCE FOR ADOPTION!
Due to circunstances out of Princes control He is now back “in adoption!”
I will never forget the day I saw Prince’s case. The way his beauty coupled with best buddy Odie stole my heart. I thought ‘someone will rescue you, you’re stunning. Only 2 days in the perrera to go before killing and I’d decided if his case came around again I’d take them. Sure enough meant to be, it did. And I did.

Rescued galgas flying the flag in Yorkshire with The Blue Greyhound
Regular readers will know The Blue Greyhound shop on ebay where Susan Dawson raises funds for greyhounds and galgos. Her two galgas were recently chosen as winners of a competition and they were at Bark in the Park last weekend, in east Yorkshire. Here’s what Susan says, and some fabulous photos
The Blue Greyhound had a stall yesterday (17/8/2013) at Bark in the Park, a great show that we attend every year which promotes good dog ownership. Lots of great stalls. It was also a special day for Eli and Cassie who received their Dog Star Awards.

Galgo brother & sister Sam and Sallie – waiting at 112carlotagalgos for a forever home together
Charl writes. Introducing Sam and Sallie. So young in age and trashed away. Galgo pups kept in the darkness of a shed and forgotten about … left to fend for themselves.
Just mere babies at best they scavenge the ground in the dark.. barking till hoarse Sam lost his voice. “Someone.. anyone can you feed us?”The day came when they were remembered and thrown over the fence of my friend’s refuge. The norm here… and then they become prey to be robbed. So galgos from Maria head to us for safety.
