Cuenca, Castilla La Mancha – the truth behind the glitter and gloss
Castilla La Mancha in central Spain is one of the 5 main hell holes in which to be born a galgo or podenco. Cuenca is its capital city and has presented its candidacy to be European Cultural Capital 2016.
There is a dark side to the city which has not been presented to the EC. This has come from a supporter of CuencaAnimal association.
‘Since I have been in the world of the broadcasts I’ve seen many horrible images: dogs maimed, abused, abandoned in an extreme state of malnutrition, and of course, the indiscriminate killing in the kennels, the shame of Europe on the subject of animals.

Hung Breton Spaniel in Catalunya – the full story of the hell this dog suffered
Mo Swatek, president of Pro-Galgo, now has the full story about the Breton Spaniel found hung. Please, all associations, add your name to the Denuncio as, for once, the Guardia Civil are taking action.
There is also a report of 6 galgos being stolen from the Merida Dog Pound, suspected that gypsies are responsible. As is usually the case, the police are doing little to investigate.

Kimba Refuge, Cadiz – flooded out too – desperately needing help
Chiclana, the city where our Society is placed, in Cadiz, is one of the most affected cities by the storm in Spain. In Chiclana it goes on raining, it is continuously pouring.
Some weeks ago, Kimba asked you for help because our pets, under this cold and bad weather, did not have any dog coats or blankets left
And now because of the continuously rain, our “animal refuge building” is badly affected. The installations were completely flooded after the rainstorm, roofs are in a very bad condition, in the buildings our animals cannot be dry, they keep wet the whole day, installations are highly damage and we go from bad to worse, according to the forecast, it will go on raining hard.

Colate – Galgo happy in his French home – unlike his previous Spanish home
One of the first galgos we fostered was called Colate – we called him Chocolate Chip Dog – he was the most beautiful chocolate colour. Like my Sahara (only 18 months old when I got her) he had a grey face, and he was only 4 years old. This is a photo of him with his mate – he’s the one on the right. Great to see him looking so well.
