El Refugio Kimba recently rescue these 4 galgos from the Kimba Gesser dog pound, prior to being killed. Despite the lack of space in the Kimba shelter, these beautiful galgos were saved. They have been named Danko, Ultrac, Gorka and Axel. See more pix on the website.

Pro-Galgo are so inundated with appeals for help with galgos and caring for the ones they already have that they have not had time to update their English website. But you can read the latest stories with babelfish translation into English here. To see what the dogs suffer, to see what the volunteers cope with……..say a prayer for them all to have the strength to get through each day. And the end of the hunting season is only 6 weeks away!!!

Hey, folks. See what’s in Spain’s rubbish bin! You’ll see the one on the right has a swollen front right paw. Obviously injured or infected, so thrown by the galguerro on the scrap heap, like a cigarette end. I curse you, galguerro, and all your family, for the rest of your lives.

I have received the following appeal on behalf of Karmela for the dogs in Mairena perrera, condemned to be starved for 3 weeks before being euthanaised. If anyone can support her, please do. With donations, she can put the dogs into kennels so they can have their EU passport prepared.

In trying to track down if anyone knew who the hunters were – by name etc – who had these dogs packed in this trailer, or had vehicle registration numbers, I have been given the link to this site. It’s in German but if you click on ‘Translate’ you will be able to read about the way the galguerros keep their dogs – this is the REAL Spain!

Anna Clements of SOS Galgos is desperately seeking news of these dogs from Mairena. This is what she says.

‘Just wanted to keep you updated about the Mairena galgos since we have been up to our eyeballs in confusion about their aid. We have rescued ref 115, ref, 190, ref 186 and ref 117 (115 and 117 are the ones that appear on the frontpage of the article on your website) and they are here in forever homes in Barcelona.

We need your help in clarifying whether any groups have taken any of the 6 of the 7 galgos in the main photo where they all appear together, as I asked Puri of Cuenca animal who have taken 11 (she has sent me the photos of each one of these 11 galgos), but none of them are any of the 6 that appear in the photo in question (I say 6 because we got the 7th here which is ref 186, the one lying down that’s on the right).

This is Spain, a Third World Country, Despeñaperros (Jaén), please look also to the van

Some days ago, this shot was taken in the Spanish province of Jaén. No, it’s not China or some of these so called developing nations, this is Spain.

These dogs are brought this way to the hunting and for sure they haven’t had anything to eat since days, so they pursue the bag with more wildness.

May we also say, that in Spain there is no animal torture? May we say that we are a “First World Country”?

Or should we better say we are a Third World Country.

Rough Justice, folks! Here’s one up for the galgos. A missing hunter has been found dead at the bottom of a well in Calvia! He’d been missing for 9 days; no one heard his cries for help as he lay in the well badly injured. Eventually he shot himself. The galgos who get thrown down wells don’t have the luxury of a gun to put themselves out of their misery.

Just picked this up off Charl’s blog – it’s not even the end of the hunting season and galgos are dying.

Just doesn’t matter hey, Put them in the bin!!!! Shame on you.

To sum up, this week, the council of Salamanca have signed a contact with the perrera de Ciudad Rodrigo with regards to extermination of abandoned animals. As you can see, 2 galgos found in the bin, the same week, and it just does not matter!!!!!!!!!

The subject of ‘killing stations’ is sickening, and what is more sickening is what happens to the dogs in them. I am still waiting for someone to tell me how each dog is actually killed – I’ve been told lethal injection, poison, 100 dogs a week, vet comes on Wednesdays……
