Cruel Spain – galgos tied up in caves to starve to death – shame on Spain

Cuevas Chinchilla cave entrance 01 2011 190 The entrance to Hell. From A.P.A.P. Albacete Noah’s Ark we want to present a new case of animal abuse, which occurred in the town of Chinchilla de Montearagón. Again, the galgo, noble animal, an innocent victim of the cruelty and ruthlessness of some heartless owners.

Last week members of the Protective went to check the call of some youths who made a grisly discovery, several bodies of dogs in a cave near the village.

Fearing the worst we viewed some of the caves in the area and found in several of them the same sad scenario, dogs in various stages of decomposition, bound with ropes to rocks inside the caves where they had been left to die slowly of starvation. .. and even whole litters thrown into small pits from which they could not leave.

We will never understand violence against defenseless people, but even more overwhelmed us that people are able to kill so coldly and cruelly animals that have faithfully served their masters.

Cuevas Chinchilla 1 01 2011 190 Post these facts to the attention of SEPRONA, ask them to research and ask the City Council Chinchilla to take action on this matter.

Animal protection is the responsibility of municipalities and their is legislation that protects them is really the responsibility of governments, but also should be a concern for all citizens.

The person or people who sentenced to death an animal in these conditions is not only committing an act of immense cruelty but also commits a crime under the Penal Code.

Cuevas Chinchilla 2 01 2011 190 Unfortunately this is not an isolated case and the authorities continue to ignore these facts, which means each year thousands of dogs live and die victims of abuse and the lassitude of the law.

It is sad that our cities and towns have to be known for things like this. How long we will depend on them to provide a decent life to the ‘spoils’ of our society.

My opinion of how the Spanish treat their dogs is getting worse by the day, especially when I see and read about such cases as these. Those who do this to their dogs do not deserve to be called human, man or person. They are the lowest on earth. No animal would cause another so much suffering. I would never go to Spain on holiday because of what I hear and see with regards to their treatment of animals. Perhaps if many others chose not to go there for the same reason, they might realise and do something about it.

You are one of hundreds, even thousands, who will
not go to Spain because of their treatment of animals. I was always the
same, until I moved to France and could go on rescues to bring galgos and
podencos back to France for rehoming. Its unbelievable that the Spanish
government and regional governments still cant accept that the abuse of animals
is detrimental to their world image and tourism industry. I dont buy
Spanish food produce either, for the same reason. Its a shame that those
Spaniards who love and care about their animals and what happens in their
country have to suffer the ignominy of bad world press because of the animal
abusers, whether it be the hunters and galgos, using horses in fiestas, bull
fighting, stoning donkeys, horse wrestling…..the list is endless.
Hope youve written to your MEP and asked all your
family and friends to do the same. Derek Vaughan needs their support in his
    Written motion.

Totally agree with you,,If I ever did go to Spain I would be on a mission to rescue galgos .My heart goes out to them all. I know animal abuse is everywhere, and its not going to stop as long as no one does nothing about it.

We all try in our own way, nibbling away at the
authorities and hunting federations; we have to believe we will all make a
difference one day. Make sure you support the campaigns run on Galgo News
and Podenco Post, and include your family and friends.
