This is another sad casualty of hunting in Spain; this blind podenco was dumped in the Jerez perrera in December. It’s bad enough for all the dogs who can see, imagine not being able to see in that environment too. Luckily Silvia of Galgo Connection Spain in Valencia has taken him to give him a chance of a comfortable future life.
Update 05 01 2011 – Alphonso sadly crossed over the rainbow bridge today. At least in his last few days he knew the sound of kind voices and felt the gentle caress of caring hands.
And there is news in today about an injured podenco which has been taken to the vet by Galgos del Sol.
Can You Help?
I receive an enormous volume of stories, appeals and information about podencos, yet I don’t feel there is the room on Galgo News to publish it all, along with the enormous volume about galgos. Sadly Podenco Rescue has been silent since the beginning of June. So I am asking if there is anyone who would like to run a Podenco Post in a similar way to Galgo News? If there is, please email me. It’s not complicated, my marvellous webmaster Craig is in control of all the information and links in the left and right-hand side columns, I just type and post the central page. Craig is always available to help with advice etc when needed.
Alternatively, I can try and run Podenco Post alongside Galgo News, with a link from the GN Homepage. But Galgo News and the behind-the-scenes work I am also involved in takes up so much of my time – occasionally there is a little grumble from My Other Half about fingers glued to Galgo News! – that I believe podencos need someone else to do justice to a Podenco Post.
Your input and comments will be greatly appreciated, including an offer to run Podenco Post.
