Barcelona Dogs – stunning leather dog collars – raise funds for galgo rescue

Klea_levin_house 250One of the items which many associations use for fundraising is to sell dog collars. The huge majority of these collars are fabric martingale collars. My experience of these is that a) the dog scratches the collar and the fabric gets tatty and 2) I would never ever risk walking one of my galgos outside in one. It may be that I have bought a design not suited to the purpose which I required. But personally, I still prefer a shaped leather collar. And the most fantastic designs I have found are Barcelona Dogs.

I met Klea, their creator/designer, when I went to Barcelona at the beginning of December 2010, and I can confirm the superb quality of these collars and the designs unique. Even better that the price for the collars was not staggering, which I had expected, considering the ‘jewels’ used.

For anyone wishing to purchase a collar from Klea and at the same time raise funds for galgos in Spain, then if you order through the link on Galgo News, Klea will make a donation to my Galgo Fund. To ensure Galgo News gets the donation, please use the code berylgalgos. There are two special designs for galgos, at a discount price, but you can also choose a collar for any breed/type of dog from the whole range of collars. So please click on the website Click this link for special rescue galgo range.

As I’ve mentioned before, money raised from the sale of my book and notelets is used to donate to appeals for help with vet fees, which I post on Galgo News.

I really wish they didn’t make the leather collars. It makes no sense at all to use the skin of one animal that suffered to put around the neck of another animal(where many of them have also suffered. There are so so many alternatives. Please think people.

I agree with you John, it defeats the purpose to purchase the leather collar, obtained by sadist killing of one animal to try to save another. Man made materials can be made cheaper and to last longer without suffering.

    Bon Soir Many associations
and individuals organise petitions such as you wish to sign. On Galgo
News, I merely announce the petitions and give links to the sources to sign. I
do not run petitions myself, more letter-writing campaigns. If you put the
relevant words into the search box on Galgo News, such as sign the petition
or send a letter, it should guide you to the relevant posts. However,
please bear in mind that some of these petitions will now be
    closed.
    Thank you for caring.

I’d put money on it that neither of you are vegans – you wear leather shoes, sheepskin slipper, leather gloves, hats, coats, scarves, eat red meat, eat fish….the leather used for these collars is from animals which have been killed for human consumption…can you say you have NEVER eaten meat from a live animal? I put money on it you can’t!

Sorry to say that I do agree with John N, the least we can do in proposing collars, leads or other things is to avoid carrying on habits in which death and suffering of other animals are necessary.
This is how we can prove we really want to make the difference for the sake of Galgos and other animals.

I agree with Beryl, I have a rescued galgo and support galgo charities. These posts are about what we can do to help save and protect the galgos. Also, what do you think dogs eat? They eat meat! Dogs are companion animals and the leather is a by product. I am sincerely hoping that John, Jane and Lois don’t eat dairy, or wear leather shoes and I hope they spend their time and money on trying to save suffering animals, otherwise the comment of “think people” is deeply insulting to people who devote their lives to saving the galgos. They are amazing and deserve respect and support for what they do. I don’t suppose that they have thought that their comments could have adversely affected much needed fundraising either?
