Save the Galgo – Stop the suffering

Update on Jerez Galgos – some still wait on death row in Cadiz – please help

Maribel jerez Charl 3 250 Work has been going on ‘behind the scenes’ at GN to help rescue the current Jerez Galgos. I am pleased to tell you that 8 of them have already travelled to Valencia to Galgo Connection Spain and all are negative for the Mediterranean diseases.

Another 4 will be coming out on 24th December to Malaga and Asociacion para la Proteccion del Galgo Espanol – Charl del Rio. They will be going into a local kennels. These 4 need microchipping, vaccinating, castrating and blood testing, plus rent for the kennel.

Maribel jerez Charl 1 250 Charl and APGE are sending out an appeal for donations to pay for this. You can donate by Paypal to comdelrio@hotmail.com. These galgos will also need foster and forever homes. Please contact Charl if you can help.

This is what Charl writes.

112 Carlota Galgos needs you. 112 Carlota galgos te necesita!

The continuous calls from the Jerez perrera (dog pound) coe in every week, the daily dumping ground for Galgos (just one throughout Spain) where the ever loyal and faithful galgo is taken to by their hunter, or picked up of the streets – and this their payment for having been faithful. Death after trauma!! shame felt throughout the kennels shared for it is there the galgos meet their cruel end.

15, 10, 5 a day can come in there, no longer needed, surplus to requirements. In the eyes of the hunter, they do the galgo a favour for taking it to a kinder death than if they did it themselves. Walking away Sr.Galguero, you have blood on your hands!

Its here that sevaral asoc. have stepped in to take, 2, 3, 6, 8 galgos, as many as they can to save and mend broken souls and broken bodies for all they have ever known is the cold wet floor, and shivering nights. The sick feeling in their stomach from the ache of hunger.. the tired limbs from having been run off their legs, curled up in tiny boxes with wheels for their journeys home from the fields, with a stop of at the end to the local perrera to end their days! Their payment for a days work, .. for those who are deemed not worthy.

Its heartbreaking to think that some can walk away feeling they have “done thr right thing” and while the galgos receive their opportunity from asoc. many dont get out. They meet their end on a cold floor, shivering and terrified from human kind. with every single right to feel that way.

For some, the kind hand of courage steps in and takes them home.
Dear Friends, its never simple its never easy and certinly hard from a financial point of view. These dogs ALL need testing for diseases. Vaccinating, sterilising. caring for in ways which your pet at home thank God hasnt needed to know. For they while you look at them, may have been where these galgos are once upon a time, but now sleep on a warm bed with filled tummies and await the festivities with the love they all should feel.

the first 2 galgas were taken from Jerez and have very very special parents awaiting them in the UK. Their new mama and papa have funded their care from the moment they stepped out of the perrera to now.. all coated up, sterilised and in care. Their story is on 112carlotagalgos.blogspot.com where we will follow them all the way home to their loving parents Angela and Peter.

Today I received a boot full of bags of blankets, bedding from a plea made on our behalf from Marie to Ann and I met them today while they filled my car with bedding. We received last week 2 boxes of craftfully made coats for our galgos from Dorothy and Friends to whom we are greatful. Thankyou to you all.

The next 4 galgos are coming on the 24th. Out of the perrera for Christmas and into residency. Their costs will rise having paid their residency, tests, castrations, care and always bearing in mind, are they healthy? we received a donation from GRIN, an asoc. from America who stands firmly beside the Galgos of Spain and asoc. here. My thanks are to GRIN also. Without their backup and kind backup of coats and blankets we would be really stuck and the 4 coming out, well it would feel so much harder.

It is my plea to you, that wherever you can, however you can, please can you help us?
Economically for their care, word of mouth, medications/frontline, food, a bed which allows the galgo to go inside it, (similar style kennel/transportine) this way while in the kennel they have somewhere to go to hide. Any help, at all, will make their Christmas one to live through.

My sincerest deepest heartfelt thanks, to you all for reading my plea.
Continued news will be on my site.

In galgo affection, always. PAYAL:comdelrio@hotmail.com

Another two of the Jerez galgos are also with Charl and APGE.
Holly & Faith reunited 110 They are being prepared to travel to the UK and 6 months in quarantine kennels, before the final part of their journey to their forever home together in Wales.

Sadly, there remain other galgos on death row in this perrera.

Please open your hearts and wallets to help these poor creatures of God they can not help themselves from the brutality forced on them they have nothing but love to give someone and they truly need your help anything will help these wonderful dogs give them a chance to escape death row for they do not deserve to be put to death just for discarded like a piece of trash or an object no longer needed

    Bonjour
Its heartbreaking, isnt it, that the men who take
these dogs to be killed simply turn their backs on them. And the method of
killing isnt quick; the cheapest method can take 15-20 mins.
    Thanks for caring and commenting
